Constitution of Doctorate Course

Basic Subjects

Along with research methodologies in nursing practice from various angles, three elective classes are provided. Methodology in Practical Teaching looks at the practical aspects of pedagogical issues and methods in society. Organization Management emphasizes the characteristics of nursing services at healthcare, medical, social services, and other care facilities. Inquiry into Health Care Needs is a fundamental subject for gaining basic research skills. These classes are offered every two years and support students' overall learning.

Major Subjects

1. Methodology in Integrated Practical Nursing Studies I/II

The goals of nursing while exploring issues concerning health promotion, growth and development, and convalescence time based on the human life cycle are covered in I. In II, students learn to prepare the conditions and surrounding environment to support families, communities, and general situations involving parenting, caregiving, and medical treatment.

2. Seminar on Integrated Practical Nursing Studies

The special seminars include Nursing Administration and Policy, Nursing Ethics, and Nursing Education. Their purpose is to take a broad view of innovation in nursing practice based on user needs and, the original goal of the course, to develop the ability and capacity to be a nursing educator. In Nursing Administration, a few standing research topics for discussion are taken up relative to Gifu municipal nursing administration and policy, leading to problem-solving tasks. In Nursing Ethics, ethical problems are analyzed, focusing on human rights and morals in nursing practice. There is also a review of the status and importance of ethical problems in practical nursing research Finally, in Nursing Education, appropriate ways of teaching at clinical nursing sites are reexamined in order to devise systematic methods for nursing study. The students should take on a research topic and write a paper, which is considered a supplement to an eventual doctoral dissertation.

3. Dissertation Research on Integrated Practical Nursing Studies

Students are required to select their own topics, develop a research plan, and write a doctoral dissertation. Academic supervision is provided on an individual basis.
