Message from the Dean of Gaduate School

The Graduate School of Gifu College of Nursing was established through joint research with nursing professionals and through the Nursing Practice Research Promotion Project within Gifu Prefecture. Our master's program started in 2004, followed by the doctorate program in 2006. In 2008, the master's program began offering a Certified Nurse Specialist track with majors in chronic care, child health, and cancer. The Graduate School focuses on providing patient-centered care with respect for human rights and the dignity of individuals, improving the quality of nursing to meet people's needs. It also serves as a hub for lifelong education programs that can provide in-service training.
In the master's program, students seek to improve the quality of nursing by analyzing current issues and problem-solving towards improvement. Their research should support the future development of nursing practice, and through the process of research, they, as nursing professionals, should take the initiative in providing better care. In the doctoral program, students consider the current state of nursing from a broader perspective, including those of patients, nursing professionals, or other professions. At the same time, they must consider nursing practices themselves and the present state of nursing delivery systems. They can then gather working teams to implement practical reforms and improvements.
The Graduate School has already produced many master's and doctorate degree holders, who now play leading roles in nursing reforms and enrichment, or who work as educators. Today, as the needs of nursing service users have diversified, we continue to strive to improve our educational offerings and develop individuals who can deliver user-centered care while contributing to better quality throughout the profession.
